Christie has been teaching arts and music and creating classes in the Atlanta and Decatur, GA areas since 1999. With a degree in psychology, a minor in early childhood education and graduate work in organizational development, she loves building communities of learners by working with talented, compassionate people and helping them bring their passions to others. Christie loves to travel, read, and learn from her daughters. When you can't find her, she may be hiding out trying to finish her first novel.

Adam, originally from Rye Brook, New York and a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College, has been playing music in Atlanta since 1996. His natural talents and years of training (since age 6!) and experience shine through in his love of all things music. Adam has brought his enthusiasm and unique spirit to his music students since he turned in his suit and tie and left his management position at Coca-Cola in 1998. Adam loves to travel, geocache and accompany his daughters singing when they will let him.

Nancy came to Spunky Arts shortly after graduating from SCAD-Atlanta in 2013 with a major in Sequential Art. Her knowledge of the comic field combined with an enthusiastic interest in her students' storytelling prowess propels the Comics and Character Creation program. She believes everyone and anyone can make comics, and that she is there to help them tell their stories to their readers.

Nancy teaches students preschool through high school. She also moderates the Comics Club programs.

Liz is a textile designer and teacher with a passion for children and building community. Originally from Argentina, Liz has lived and studied in Buenos Aires (University of Buenos Aires), Boston (School of Fashion Design), and New York (Parson's School of Design) before settling in Atlanta. She has been creating and teaching students of all ages for more than 18 years.

Liz teaches Knitting and Textiles, Spanish Immersion, Art in Spanish, Spanish tutoring, and workshops with Spunky Arts.

Cullen is a comic artist, illustrator, and art teacher who specializes in capturing human emotion, quirkiness, and unique details in her stories and characters. As a teacher, she strives to bring out the best in her students by focusing on their individual needs and styles. 

She has a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Emory University and a MFA in Sequential Art from SCAD Atlanta. Her artwork has appeared in Action Lab’s “Princeless" series as well as multiple self-published short comics, coloring books, and anthologies. She loves brush pens and warm colors, and she loves to draw empowered girls and unique natural environments.

 
Maria

Maria

Maria is a native Spanish speaker and student of the arts at SCAD Atlanta working towards her BFA in documentary photography with a minor in drawing. As an Atlanta resident, she is an admirer of the varied music, arts, and cuisine of the city and its wide range of vibrant cultures and communities.  

Maria loves working with children bringing her passion for art and music into Drawing and Spanish immersion classes. Her kind and gentle nature is apparent to all who meet her. Maria can often be found treading through city streets or deep in the woods in search of subjects to photograph. She can also be found assisting our teachers and leading in a variety of classes thanks to her many talents and skills.

Nydia

Nydia

Nydia is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Public Communications. After being a journalist for many years, she stayed at home with her children for 10 years. Later, she became a part-time Spanish adjunct lecturer at Oxford College (Emory University). This experience brought her to work that now reflects her love for children and education.

Nydia works with Spanish Immersion classes and workshops. You may also see her talents as she assists in other classes.

Savana

Savana

Savana (she/they) is a photographer, collage artist, filmmaker, and set designer based in Atlanta, Georgia. Humor, beauty, and pop culture are frequently explored in Savana's work through a campy, colorful, and textural lens. Her goal is to tell the most wacky and surreal stories possible.

Savana graduated with a BFA in fine art photography at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2019.

In her spare time, she likes to collect old shiny things, craft, and clean glitter out of her ears.
